I happened to be reading the server admin log, and noticed these entries for April 4:
# 23:17 mutante: wikinews.com now redirects to wikinews.org # 23:11 mutante: DNS update - adding wikinews.com
So looks like wikinews.com now redirects. Personally that make me rather happy.
