WikiConference North America has gone virtual! Join the Wikimedia
community, 11-13 December 2020 online for talks, training, gatherings, and
chats.
The content is focused on North America, but Wikimedians anywhere in good
standing are welcome to attend for free. The conference will be
free-flowing, with lightning talks, open space sessions and a virtual
lounge space. Attendees must abide by a safe space policy.

content, such as an update on activity by North American Affiliates and a
session on the state of the Wikimedia 2030 movement strategy process.
It's not all business - the conference is also designed for social
interaction and fun. The presence of a WikiCheese meetup is rumored but
unconfirmed, and bring your own beverage and munchies for social activity
time. You'll be able to mingle in the various virtual small rooms for
topical chats, or perform at the Sock Puppet Stage or Talk Page Theater.
Hang out with friends old and new in the many zones in the virtual lounge.

Reminder from the Foundation - if you need funds for a Wikipedia 20 event
in mid-January, Rapid Grant deadline is Dec 15.
Note that the minimum amount for a rapid grant is $500. With how the US is
doing, I'm guessing we'll all be doing digital events, which would probably
cost less than $500. I'd be curious if funding could go towards food
delivery credits in lieu of in-person food, but of course that becomes a
much higher cost per-person, so I'd be surprised if it's entertained.

The December round of Rapid Grants will close on 15 December. If you are
planning to submit a grant application for a Wikipedia 20 event taking
place on or around January 15, please make sure to do so by midnight UTC on
15 December 2020. For those planning to host Wikipedia 20 events after
January through the end of 2021, Rapid Grants will continue to be available
in the following months.
Please note that applications for Rapid Grants to fund events happening in
January will not be eligible for funding after 15 December due to the lack
of time available for processing those applications.
