Hi Cascadians,
Wiknic, which is Wikipedia's annual picnic, is tentatively planned for Sunday, July 5. Last year we met at the Washington Park Arboretum ( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington_Park_Arboretum) and we may do that again this year. More info to come.

So fun! I'm out of the country much of the summer, otherwise would join.
Enjoy the sunshine,
Monika

Hi everyone,
This Sunday, July 5th, is our annual Wikipedia picnic in Seattle called "Wiknic". We will meet 11 AM to 2 PM in the Washington Park Arboretum https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington_Park_Arboretum. We will meet at the picnic tables that are located in the meadow that's near 47.637435°N 122.293986°W https://tools.wmflabs.org/geohack/geohack.php?pagename=Wikipedia%3AMeetup%2FSeattle%2FWiknic%2F2015¶ms=47.637435_N_-122.293986_E_, south of the Graham Visitors Center.
Last year we had 13 people, a quadcopter, foods based on recipes from multiple continents, and a wide range of intelligent and enjoyable conversation.
The event is a potluck. Please sign up at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/Seattle/Wiknic/2015 ****including the drink or food that will bring*. *Plan to serve about 10 to 20 people.
The weather forecast is for temperatures to be in the mid-80s. It would be great to have at least one person commit to bring iced water or lemonade.
If you have a pop-up canopy then please bring it.
On the day of the event, if you get lost then you can call Cascadia's phone number, 206-659-7420, or ask the staff at the Graham Visitors Center.
Thanks!
Pine
Hi, weather update for Wiknic: the forecast is now for 91 degrees and a high UV index. Peaceray is bringing icewater, but everyone do please take appropriate precautions for the weather, such as sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, and staying hydrated. There will be some shade in the trees. It's ok for those of us who are more temperature and/or sunlight sensitive to come but leave early, or skip the event if you think that you should; people who are very young, elderly, or have other health issues are more vulnerable to heat stroke. Health and safety first.
Thanks, Pine
Good news: I've been offered a loan of a pop-up tent for Sunday. Hopefully that will help a bit.
