Hello Cascadians!
My colleague from Wiki Education Foundation, LiAnna Davis, is going to be in Seattle on Wednesday evening. (We're doing a research and planning sprint for a our technical projects.) Would anyone be interested in hanging out with me and LiAnna, talking about Wikimedia education stuff and Cascadia stuff, and (optionally) having some drinks?
It would probably be somewhere in Fremont, maybe around 6pm.
This would be a nice chance to get a clearer shared understanding of how education projects will figure into Wikimedia Cascadia's program plans.
-Sage
I am interested.

I would if I could! :)
In somewhat related news, I will be teaching students at Reed College about wiki culture and how to edit Wikipedia later this month. One day, two classes, approximately 50 students. The professor sees great value in having his students use and contribute to Wikipedia. I told him about the Education Program and Wiki Education Foundation for future reference, but in this particular instance I don't think enrolling the students as part of the program is necessary given the assignment parameters. I am happy to provide some instruction to these students and establish a relationship with another local professor and institution.
Sage, please pass this info along to LiAnna and Jami if it is helpful in any way.

Dear all,
Sage it could be nice to join you tomorrow. Would you be able please to text me and let me know where you will be? (206) 715-2320. I will be in South Lake Union in the late afternoon and could swing by Fremont after.
I'm also giving a guest lecture -- tomorrow! -- on the culture of Wikipedia, systemic bias, and an editing tutorial for a Com course on participatory media. I've compiled my own materials for this. Would be pleased to hear how others have done this and collaborate/participate in future initiatives. I don't know much, yet, about the Education Program.
Best Monika

You can contact me by text to 808-258-0224 or by email to raymond.f.leonard.jr.com. Either way, I will see it on my cell phone.
If you can let us know if when you know that it is a definite go, that would be great. Ditto for the exact time & location.

Okay! It'll be at 6pm tomorrow at:
Fremont Brewing Company Urban Beer Garden 1050 N 34th St Seattle, WA 98103
This is a place where they serve beer, but you can bring your own food. I'm not sure what precisely we'll do on the food front, but LiAnna and I will likely have a meal there.

http://www.fremontbrewing.com/food/ "We make beer. Delicious beer. We don’t make food. Pretzels and apples are available (for free!), and we encourage you to bring in your own food or to support the amazing community that surrounds us by ordering from one of Fremont’s tasty eateries. Menus are available for your convenience."
Not sure how this Google Maps will render for you, but I probably will grab food from PCC Narural Market's Fremont store on N. 34th St. https://www.google.com/maps/search/food/@47.6491625,-122.344303,17z/data=!3m...
