If possible, March 4th would work better for me.

Luiza, Yes! Great initiative. Do look the Research Commons if you're still in a exploratory stage for securing the location. The librarians we've worked with are unfortunately gone. We've hosted a few events there in the past and Wikipedia editing synchronizes well with the goals of the RC specifically. Moreover, they've got great flex spaces, equipment, and lots of plug-ins. In fact, you might be able to reserve one of the classrooms or areas yourself on the RC homepage.
Having a list of things to work on during the event, and handy materials for people to use, will definitely help make the event a success. That, and lots of publicity. It's worth making a few personalized invitations to folks you think would be really great and will recruit their friends. Food, too!
Do you plan to have a learn to edit session for newcomers?

Sounds good. If Odegaard doesn't come through, the Research Commons at
the
Allen Library is also a likely bet. We've done several events there.

Hi Lane, I'm waiting for Odegaard Library at UW to confirm if they can host us -
I
do not know when I'll hear back from them. I've been talking to
Indigenous
scholars and scholars of Indigenous art to come up with a preliminary
list
of names and topics relating to Indigenous women artists that need
editing
so I can start researching and collecting reference materials on them. Thanks for the help,

Hello,
Thanks for writing in.
I expect that different people can contribute different parts of this, but to start, are you able to secure a location? When do you expect to confirm one?
You say that you are a library student. It helps at these events if someone is able to bring curated information to the event which would be good
to
share, like books or articles which can be cited. Are you able to collect a few books and papers to recommend for people who need source
information
to develop articles? If you can do that, then that firms up the theme of
the
event.
Thanks for speaking up.

Dear Cascadian Wikimedians,
Hi! I recently joined the group and wanted to introduce myself: my
name
is
Luiza, I'm a library and information science grad student at the UW in Seattle. Originally from Brazil, I have a background in Art Librarianship and a particular interest in computer-supported collaboration tools (even though my Wikipedia editing skills are still very rough).
I’m planning on organizing an Art+Feminism edit-a-thon at the UW in early March (the 4th or the 11th, depending on confirmation of the
location).
As
a way to make the event salient to our community, the idea is to focus on editing entries related to Indigenous art and Indigenous women
artists.
I’d
love to enlist your expertise in organizing the event and invite the
group
to be an affiliated sponsor.
Please let me know if you are interested in getting involved. Any suggestions and recommendations are more than welcome!
Warm regards,
