Hi Connor & all,
I plan to attend the planning committee meeting on August 15 at 10am in the basement of Allen Library North at UW Libraries, in Special Collections.
I plan to help at the Labor-themed edit-a-thon, tentatively for Saturday November 2, 2019. Please keep in mind if you need to reschedule that Wikiconference North America https://wikiconference.org/wiki/2019/Main_Page will take place November 8-11 in Boston, & that several Cascadian Wikimedians will attend that.
I have the Event Coordinator privileges that Su-Laine mentioned, & I can help publicize that on-wiki & via Facebook. We can also announce it at our Wiknic (probably August 23rd or 24th) & subsequent meetups when they resume in September.
Yours, Peaceray -- raymond.f.leonard.jr@gmail.com

You can do that with the “Event Coordinator” rights. You can apply here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requests_for_permissions/Event_coord... or ask any admin to give you the rights.
One thing you can do with Event Coordinator rights is give other uses “Confirmed” status. At the beginning of an edit-a-thon I pass around a sign-up sheet and have everyone write down their username, then when I have time I make them all Confirmed. That makes things go more smoothly for them.
Cheers, Su-Laine

There is a fair chance I can attend that planning meeting, if you can
give me precise info on location. (Hard to say for sure, because my work has been up-and-down lately.)
Peaceray, I've never taken the lead on an Edit-a-Thon. I know there is
some means you have to set up more accounts at one time from one IP address than would normally be allowed; can we make sure that someone with that ability will be there Nov 2 so I don't have to focus on that aspect? Other than that, I'm sure I can handle this.

Great! Thanks, Joe.
The Edit a Thon will be at the UW Seattle Campus in the Research
Commons.
Our planning committee is meeting again on August 15 at 10am at UW
Seattle if anyone wants to attend! We are also glad to send a rep to a Wikipedia meeting.
Best,
Conor

Certainly at the very least a couple of us can be there as resources. I certainly would love to.
Cafe Allegro meeting has been a bit irregular lately, but I'm sure we can set something up well before November.
Will the event be on the UW Seattle campus or elsewhere?

Hello Cascadia Wikimedian User Group,
The Labor Archives of Washington and UW Libraries Research Commons are
planning an edit a thon (tentatively for Saturday November 2, 2019.) I am contacting your group to ask about how to involve the Cascadia Wikimedian User Group.
Themes: Labor themes, including women, people of color and
historically underrepresented communities that lack Wikipedia entries. There will be an emphasis on The Seattle General Strike, Centralia Tragedy of 1919 and related entries because 2019 is the centennial of these events.
We are starting to meet to plan in advance of the edit a thon, and we
want to actively involve Wikipedians in the area and learn from your experience. Is there still a monthly meetup happening at Café Allegra where I can consult/announce? Would a rep be interested in attending our next planning meeting or vice versa?
Thank you for considering it, Conor Casey
