Hello,
I think that readers of the Cascadia mailing list heard that earlier in the year, a Wikipedia conference was considered for Seattle, and that now, conference planning is solidifying to be held in San Diego from Friday - Sunday 7-9 October.
I am writing to request that people in Cascadia support conference planning by responding to the following 3-minute survey. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/wikieventfeedback The conference planning team needs some feedback based on previous conferences to assist in planning this next conference. Getting only a few more responses would be very helpful. I hope that any upcoming conference can be useful for people who attend in person and also produce videos, notes, and participation options for people who would join remotely.
Thanks to anyone who can support.
Only for those who want more information - ------------------- Hardly anything is published or certain about the San Diego conference. San Diego is being considered because of (1) support commitments from local volunteer event organizers (2) commitments from local people and organizations to attend (3) promise of cheap or maybe free conference venue. The location of conferences is mostly decided by availability of local volunteer labor and matching cost to what the Wikimedia Foundation will fund.
Minimal details on the planned San Diego conference are at https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/WikiConference_USA This would be the page to bookmark for when more details are available, or just watch for mailing list announcements.
Wikimedia Foundation support for the conference will be requested in a grant request based on this older draft request for the Seattle conference. I am sharing this as the information that I have, but this is totally outdated, and this San Diego conference would be funded in a way that is 50%+ different. < https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:PEG/Cascadia_Wikimedians/WikiConferen...
