Hi Cascadia Wikimedians,
The Cascadia Wikimedians User Group board is leaning towards a "no" vote on
the Wikimedia Movement Charter.
The Movement Charter <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Movement_Charter>
seems to be a fatally flawed document, but there are many parts that are
very valuable. We as a user group endorse the views expressed in
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Cascadia_Wikimedians/Joe_Mabel%27s_comments…
.
We have these additional observations:
1. Slowly growing the Global Council from 25 upward seems like a good
idea.
2. The Global Council Board should max out at 15 or fewer.
3. We would like to see provisions setting a maximum of 70% of any given
gender in all relevant bodies (Global Council, Board, standing committees,
etc.),
Joe Mabel is our Cascadia Wikimedian representative for casting our user
group vote. His deadline to vote is *23:59 UTC on July 9, 2024*. You should
make any comments that you want taken into consideration by no later than
Saturday, July 6th, and preferable earlier.
I also wish to remind everyone also has an individual vote, as long as you
meet the criteria here:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Movement_Charter/Ratification/Voting/Eligib…
Thank you for attending to this.
Yours,
