I have three readings prepared for those of you attending tomorrow's meeting (or those who are just interested).
1. Our todo list: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Canada/Todo – I have compiled a list of every step we have to take, as far as I can tell. It's originally based on the Chapters Committee's guide, and amended to add the legal requirements for Canadian incorporation. Pay special attention to section 4.1: incorporation.
2. Our proposed bylaws: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Canada/Proposed_by-laws – There is a lot done here, but they still need work to comply with legal requirements. I have reorganized the page so that it can easily be compared to the examples on the government's website.
3. A draft of our application: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Canada/Draft_application – I used the example application to make one for our purposes. The parts that we have to discuss are in red.
See you all tomorrow!
-Jeffery Nichols (Arctic.gnome)
I run a blog, http://wikinortheast.blogspot.com/, where I talk about chapters-related stuff. I mostly talk about US chapters (WMNYC in particular), but I would love to share news about the Canadian effort too. Some options:
1) If somebody wants to write up a little blog post and email it to me, I would love to post it as a "guest post" 2) If somebody among you is particularly outspoken about your work, I would like to add another regular author to the blog. No real requirements, just keep the rest of the world updated about the work you are doing in Canada.
The blog is here if you guys want to use it, and if you generate some news at the meeting it's a great way to tell the greater-wikimedia community about it. If nobody takes me up on the offer, I'll wait till afterwards and try to write up a summary myself. Good luck with your meeting!

Sorry, Roux, I don't think I had you marked down as interested yet when I sent a notice to the people that had replied. I hope you can make it! If not, don't worry. We should wait until at least the second meeting before making any final decisions on key issues like what jobs everyone has in the incorporation process. You'll be able to read a list of any decisions we reach on the meeting page a few days after it's finished. -Jeffery Nichols

Hi Jeffery, I seem to be the lone IRC guy, and with only a few minutes to go until we're supposed to be underway, I'm not sure you guys will be peeking into IRC tonight.
So... I'm currently trying to get a version of Skype installed, even if it's listen only.
Let me know how to connect up though.
Thanks, Gerald.
So Are we set to use Skype then?
When will be the meeting?

We should definitely make sure upcoming meetings have a text component, whether that be Skype text chat, IRC or something else.
I think we should try and get voice working too, but it might take some time outside the meetings to get this sorted out. I've had a few things working before for various voice conferences, and if there are some volunteers we can see if we can get something useable together for the next formal meet.
Thanks, Gerald.
Is there some ongoing preparations for next meeting? The minutes can be clearer on the assigned task to be done with defined dates.
