Hi everyone,
We have an upcoming meeting for WM Canada planning: Date: Wednesday, June 2, 2008 Time: 20:00 EDT (00:00 UTC)
We had a bunch of issues with Teamspeak, and ended up having the meeting by IRC.
It was suggested that we try something like Skype or Asterisk to eliminate these issues. If we can get some feedback before next Wednesday, I'll try to put together the instructions so anyone who wants to participate can do so -- otherwise we'll stick with IRC and Teamspeak.
Meeting Agenda is at: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Canada/Meetings/2008-06-02
Please add anything that you'd like to bring up at the meeting there.
Thanks, Gerald.
Hi Gerald,
I suggest using Skype which also offers speech and text communication all under the same software.
Thanks,
Kevin

The problem with Skype is that there is no centralized server to connect to. Every person who wants to be in the conversation will have to be called individually. I was one of the people that opposed using TeamSpeak, but I've got my software issues resolved now, so TeamSpeak works fine for me again.

By my calendar June 2 is a Monday...so is it Monday, June 2, or Wednesday, June 4?

It looks like it's June 4th since the URL now redirects to http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Canada/Meetings/2008-06-04

Oops, my bad. I believe it was Wed., June 4 that we intended to have the meeting.

Sorry for the mixup.
Gerald.
Great, thanks.

I don't want to regress here folks because we had low turnout for our last meeting. I need to get in touch with Mitchell to schedule the next meeting. Please do not attempt to schedule meetings of the committee without contacting either myself or Andrew Leung directly. If all committee members could send me an email directly with their availability over the next four weeks, I will put something together.
Respectfully,
Alan Walker Chair of the Wikimedia Canada steering committee
