Hi all,
There are 100 participants on the WMC webpage, but not much real noise in almost a year.
I'm here to make some noise. :)
I have some ideas and goals for the Canadian chapter, and that might help us move forward. I don't want to trample on others though, so I thought I'd solicit ideas first.
A brief intro from me... I'm from Wikiversity, and geographically located in Toronto. I've left a few comments on meta already, as well as have started to make inquiries about how to make this a reality.
Please, feel free to chime in.
Thanks, Gerald

You might want to look at the following page, which pretty much gives you the starting point of any chapter.

And then... it's waking people up.
I would personally be very interested in seeing a chapter emerge in Canada, as it blends both the multilingual challenge with the geographical dispersion.
Don't hesitate to ask the chapters committee for info! (http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Chapters_committee)

Ps. Can the list moderator change the settings that make people respond to the individual sender rather than the list? Thanx.
First, let me thank Delphine for being quick to respond.

It looks like we need two things -- legal advice (council?) and people willing to do some work.
I'm guessing we should have 10 people -- I'm not sure if we need more or less then that legally for a board. 10 people is a good round number, and it hopefully isn't unwieldy. What do people think?
I think one of our past volunteers started: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Canada/Incorporation
It's a good start. We have to come up with bylaws -- I will look for some boilerplate examples for nonprofits in Canada. That should get us started.
Thanks, Gerald
I've got 5 people who have expressed interest, and am still looking for another 5.
This group will review and comment on the initial bylaws and work to get the chapter legally established.
Please help out if you can.
Thanks, Gerald.
