I think having both a national group and provincial groups makes sense. The current bylaws allow regional wings within WMC to deal with local issues, and those wings have representation on the board.

I am interested in forming a group with people in Southern Ontario to start a federal organization. In my previous attempt to get this rolling, the lack of direct in person contact was a factor in the project failing to achieve its goal. I am in Hamilton, Ontario. I have access to facilities to host a meeting, are there any parties on this list that would be interested in meeting face to face to get something rolling?

I live in Richmond Hill, Ontario (just north of Toronto). I also have access to meeting rooms, in University of Toronto.

While there are clearly some advantages to meeting in person, I would like to caution against relying on them too much for planning the federal-level of the organization (they're still great for organizing local wings). To allow anyone to participate, most meetings and all AGMs of the actual organization once it is founded are going to have to be done through online chats and forums, so I think we should get use to that now. Having the bylaws, incorporation, and the first AGM organized by a Toronto crew has a large potential to alienate potential members in the rest of the country.
By all means, if you can organize a Toronto or Hamilton meeting to brainstorm ideas, do so. However, I hope that you would then bring those ideas to the national group at large via the Net rather than doing the incorporation work on you own.
