I continue to plan a meet up in Vancouver April 29th, 2011. 7 pm is the tentative time I have picked. Now all we need is a location. Suggestions? Also if those who are planning on attending would be kind enough to sigh up here to give us some ideas of numbers http://www.wikimedia.ca/index.php/Meetings/GT/2011-04-29 I will put together a bit of a schedule for the event.

Somewhere before I'd suggested the New West Library, which has an auditorium. It might be free for a non-profit, I haven't asked. Douglas College is more convenient to Skytrain I guess, than where the Library is, but Douglas probably charges, dunno; having Wiki student-associations might be an interesting outreach as well as meeting-place tangent, as clubs get free room time usually....
How many people? I mean, is a cafe environment maybe better?

How mobile are you going to be, James? You're the one flying in to the city, so that will be a big factor.
On UBC campus (reasonably accessible by bus) we could get spaces either at the Libraries or the SUB (student union building). A group I'm an occasional attendee with meets at the cafeteria in Sears at Metrotown in Burnaby, which has a skytrain station so again is quite accessible via transit but on the east end of town rather than the west. Ray and I are in Richmond - south of town - so we'd be happy to find some place close to us; I would even offer to host it at my house (though there is a chance my family and I will be moving in April-May.)
Anywhere not very loud is good for me, I suppose.

Since James will be here attending a conference I have suggested that the meeting be over dinner, and probably not too far from UBC. It's too early to say how many will be attending.
