I would advise against running again next year. For one, next year
won't be the Western Hemisphere's "turn", so right off the bad we
would be at a disadvantage. Plus if we wait for one more year,
hopefully WMC will have completed an initiative or two and will be
strong presence to support the bid.

The strongest bids are likely to be Toronto and Australia. The jury can only pick between the bids that are entered. If Australia drops, Toronto will be very strong. By starting now on the bid, we can get a running jump start. I have a friend who has informed me that if we can get Reno in for 2011, the contacts are available to get extremely competitive airfare for both years.

Bidding for 2010 is unlikely to open up for quite a while, but you are
correct that everyone has commented that there will be a strong want
for a Europe/North America Wikimania in 2010...

Even if the jury was impressed by that, it is extremely doubtful that
Wikimania would be held on the same continent two years in a row.
Sorry, but I don't think this would help "secure" a Wikimania in Tornoto. :-(
