Ahoy Bostonians!
I'm going to be in Boston for a workgroup meeting ccLearn is putting on
about educational search metadata extension kind of things on Friday,

I was figuring I'd stay for the weekend -- anybody up for an impromptu
Wikimedian meetup while I'm in town? :)

Dear friends,
Wikimedia is migrating all of its GFDL content to the CC-SA license:
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Licensing_update
Other massively collaborative sites that use the GFDL have only until
August 1 of this year to make a similar license switch, under the
terms of the latest GFDL license.
Other sites and authors that are currently using the GFDL to be
intercompatible with Wikipedia content, should plan to switch to CC-SA
around June 15 (when the WP license switch is scheduled to take
effect).
Please share this message widely. The time-constrained part applies
only to other wikis and massively-collaborative sites that chose their
license primarily to maintain WP compatibility.

Judy, congratulations! This sounds great. Do you synchronize the work
with wikipedia at all? I copy the local wikipedians, who may have advice of
their own.
OLPC would certainly be interested in a health wikislice including
information such as this.

SJ

Nicole, I don't think there has been a crossover. the Boston Photog
group would be a great one to engage. And we could start with
university libraries and museums, which tend to be especially open to
such things. Getting permission to take / relicense good photos of
major library works would likely be possible as well.

Dear wikiboston,
Two things:
1) don't forget about BLPs at the BPL this Saturday! It's going to
be awesome. But remember : you can't comment on library books in the
margins (despite confusing crossover efforts such as the attached) --
it's against the rules. so leave the highlighters at home.
2) We could use 1 or 2 people to moderate the mail that comes into
this list - most of the task is just moderating spam. Please write
back if you're interested; thanks!
