Hi, everyone!
The international Wiki Loves Earth team is happy to share that WLE 2021
will have new categories. Thank you for sharing your thoughts in
the questionnaire and the discussion, it is valuable to hear the feedback
of the WLE community.
This year, the international winning photos will represent two categories —*
landscapes* (including individual trees, if it's a nature monument) and
*macro/close-up* (animals, plants, fungi).
*How that would work?*
* the international jury will choose up to 20 photos, not more than 10
photos from each category.
* on the local level, we expect to have up to 15 winners with not more than
10 from each category. Local organizers can choose *not to divide *local
winners into categories and/or can submit fewer photos (such as 10).
*Here is an example of photos from both categories:*
* macro/close-up (containing animals, plants, fungi with *no landscape*):

* landscape:

It's important to highlight that only photos of protected sites qualify for
both categories: a landscape of a protected site or a macro/close-up photo
of a representative of that site taken there.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
Looking forward to the start of WLE 2021!

Dear all,
The international WLE team is excited about the upcoming 9th edition of
Wiki Loves Earth international photo contest! We want to thank everyone for
your opinions and ideas shared about this year's competition, in
particular, regarding the new contest categories. We are glad to share a
vision formed by the international team based on the questionnaire's
results:
This year we would like to introduce the following format of the
international winning photos: they will represent two categories —
landscapes and macro photography. Please find more details on how that
would work on the discussion page:

will be grateful to hear your feedback on this, in case you have anything
to share with us, please leave your thoughts and comments for us until the 15th
