Hello Asaf,
regarding your visit in Greece it seems that there are already enough activities. goo.gl/nbgcv We indent to merge some of the thematic community meetings with meetings with other officials, doing something between round table discussions and panel presentations, calling some officials (ministry of culture/education) and some people relative to open content. The proposed thematics are
* "Open content and copyright issues in Greece, related with Wikipedia", * "Wikipedia education projects", * "Greek Wikipedia community and relations with third parties". * A separate, more informal open discussion about the organisation of the community for outreach activities will be done without calling other people than wikipedians.
These discussions should be finished during Saturday 13th.
A more general central meetup of the community can be done in Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning, still leaving some time during the weekend to arrange some more meetings.
Please tell us * if this schedule covers the scope of your visit, * if you would like to be the initial speaker on the meetings about education projects and about relatations with third parties, * if you would like to add any other presentation/workshop/meeting.

Yes, this sounds very good to me.

education projects and about relatations with third parties,
I have no particular preference, and am happy for my talk to be put wherever it would be best, in the program. On education, I am preparing an overview of the modes of engagement with Wikipedia in education around the world (including the WMF's Global Education Program, but also a number of interested chapter or community initiatives), and will of course leave discussing the efforts in Greece to the local community.
- if you would like to add any other presentation/workshop/meeting.
I am particularly eager to ensure there is enough time to seriously discuss community issues in the Wikipedians-only forum. That's what I called the "workshop" part in earlier communications. Note that this is quite apart from a more social gathering, which can take place in a more relaxed (or noisy) atmosphere, and which I would hope would not be exclusive of anyone.
Cheers,
Asaf

Hello Asaf,
we are looking for the best place and time to have this workshop and discussion, in Saturday or Sunday.
I remind you that we'll be having the meeting/panel_presentations/open_discussions (including third parties) event, Saturday 10:30-14:00 in a National Hellenic Research Foundation room.
Please tell us how do you think of the ideal place and what will you (we) need: wifi? projector? nothing?

Hi.
While the basic activity I envision for the workshop is just a group conversation on several topics, I think wifi would be great if we find we need to demonstrate something online. But it's not crucial, I think.
What _is_ crucial, to my mind, is a maximal number of _community_ participants. I would urge you all to make this the primary factor in determining the final date and time. If the time where most people can make it seems impractical for lack of a venue, we can figure something out (e.g. a conference room in my hotel (or a different hotel)). So please, try to discuss this rapidly (on-wiki and/or in Greek is fine, of course) to make sure we can make the most of the workshop. I think some of the topics to be discussed are crucial for the future of our work in Greece.
Thank you!
(I'm going to sleep in a little bit, but I'll be checking e-mail again on my way to the airport, in about 12 hours, and will of course be online (assuming the hotel wifi works :)) as soon as I arrive.)

Update: my hotel (the Best Western Plus Embassy) can provide a conference room with Internet, a projector, and cold/hot drinks, at a cost of ~150 Euro for 30 people. (I said "30" as an estimate -- more would not be a problem). WMF is happy to pay this if that would help have the meeting with the most people. So that's an option!
Cheers,

Glad to, but I'm confused about the date now. Shall I book the room for Sunday?
Like I said, what matters most is when can we get the most community members to come.
I'm about to board my flight, so will be offline until I land.
PLEASE do your best, everyone to sort out the schedule so that we can make the most of the workshop. I can book the room according to the result of the discussion as soon as I arrive at the hotel.

I'm about to board my flight, so will be offline until I land.
PLEASE do your best, everyone to sort out the schedule so that we can make the most of the workshop. I can book the room according to the result of the discussion as soon as I arrive at the hotel.

Thank you!

Hello Asaf,
we are looking for the best place and time to have this workshop and discussion, in Saturday or Sunday.
I remind you that we'll be having the meeting/panel_presentations/open_discussions (including third parties) event, Saturday 10:30-14:00 in a National Hellenic Research Foundation room.
Please tell us how do you think of the ideal place and what will you (we) need: wifi? projector? nothing?

Just a note: Most people "signed" that they will participate on *any* meeting, with no particular date, time or place. The page was moved to indicate Sunday ( http://el.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?diff=3935595&oldid=3934614) without any arrangements, discussion or such. Again, the question arose because the community meeting was organised in Saturday without moving back that page.

Yes, you moved the names under a specific date. That was enough for a community meeting... :-) How could they make arrangements since they would not know (and still nobody knows) where and when they should go?
In fact, since 14th of March there was a note on the central page that there would be community meetings on Saturday, and enough days ago, specific place and time. I guess most people made arrangements for something specific, and not for something without any arranged place and time.
As per Asaf's suggestion, we should take care to gather the community and not argue about something that is still not scheduled. The subject is already being discussed in Agora, let's talk there.

Hi, everyone. Just landed at Frankfurt, and, having seen this, I've gone ahead and sent an e-mail to the hotel to book the conf. room for Sunday. Note that it does include wifi and "a screen" (not sure what they mean), but no projector. So we shall manage without projecting anything. :)
Cheers,
Asaf

Yes, you moved the names under a specific date. That was enough for a community meeting... :-) How could they make arrangements since they would not know (and still nobody knows) where and when they should go?
In fact, since 14th of March there was a note on the central page that there would be community meetings on Saturday, and enough days ago, specific place and time. I guess most people made arrangements for something specific, and not for something without any arranged place and time.
As per Asaf's suggestion, we should take care to gather the community and not argue about something that is still not scheduled. The subject is already being discussed in Agora, let's talk there.

For one whole month (9 March to 9 April), our names are under a specific date, Sunday 14 of April. Personally, I have made arrangements to be available on Sunday. I suppose that I am not the only one.

The community meeting is shown on Sunday in the program announced in Wikipedia since the 14th of March. We have to respect the people who have already made arrangements according to this schedule.

The room will be available from 9am to 5pm. We don't have to start at 9am, though, if it's too early for a Sunday... :) (it isn't too early for me, but I leave it up to you)

To my opinion, and as I've already said, having the workshop immediately after the panel/open discussions at EIE in Saturday is a good way to have enough community members in both meetings. It can be advantage to those who would like to come from other cities (coming and leaving the same day). And generally, it will be easier to gather everyone in one place on the same day, than gather the same people on two different days. Besides that, the previous discussions will give "food" for the users-only discussion. After all the open discussions were ment to be part of *one* central meeting (the Sunday date came up by just moving and forgeting a page with names :-) )

Cheers,

Hello Asaf,
we are looking for the best place and time to have this workshop and discussion, in Saturday or Sunday.
I remind you that we'll be having the meeting/panel_presentations/open_discussions (including third parties) event, Saturday 10:30-14:00 in a National Hellenic Research Foundation room.
Please tell us how do you think of the ideal place and what will you (we) need: wifi? projector? nothing?
