How can I access the 'viewcount' property of a page?
Use prop=info. The property is called 'counter'. Note that hit counting of individual pages can be disabled, and it is on Wikipedia.
What causes the "This page has been accessed n times." and the counter property to differ? On some pages of our 1.14a (r41712) wiki they report the same values, on others the value displayed in the text of the page is much larger than the counter property.

I believe they should be equal; I'll investigate this tomorrow.

If it helps, what I am seeing is that these agree: http://wikieducator.org/User:JimTittsler http://wikieducator.org/api.php?action=query&prop=info&titles=User:J...
These differ: http://www.wikieducator.org/User:Bnleez http://wikieducator.org/api.php?action=query&prop=info&titles=User:B...
I'm guessing it is some setup artifact (or my API misuse), but I don't know where to look.
Thanks, Jim

Ah! Looks like I should be paying attention to the 'redirect' property from the prop=info query rather than focusing on just the counter.
Thanks for the help.
