[Mediawiki-api-announce] BREAKING CHANGE: Formatting of log parameters is changing in logevents, recentchanges, and watchlist queries

To fix bugs like T73020 <https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T73020> and to generally improve the structure of the API output, the formatting of the log entry parameters returned from action=query list=logevents&leprop=details, list=recentchanges&rcprop=loginfo, and list=watchlist&wlprop=loginfo is changing. This change should be deployed to WMF wikis with 1.26wmf3, see https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/MediaWiki_1.26/Roadmap for the schedule. In all cases, the log parameters will now be located in a "params" sub-element to separate them from the information about the log entry itself. Further, where applicable the opportunity has been taken to change the parameters from being numerically indexed to being indexed by logical names and to restructure output for easier use by API clients. Numerically-indexed parameters on any remaining log types should be considered deprecated and will likely be changed to the named style in the future. How to free search a title and then get image for its "Q..id"

I have just started to migrate from freebase to wikidata. Basically my usecase involves free searching(suggest-as-you-type) for which i am using wbsearchentities. This returns me a list of results with id like "Q...". \ Now give this Qid, i need to be able to get its images and content. For .e.g, for the text "Matrix", i make the following call: https://www.wikidata.org/w/api.php?action=wbsearchentities&search=matrix&la… >From here, then I pick up one of the Qids, say,Q83495 for which I need to get images. The problem is the imageapi doesent seem to like the Qid form. Do i first need to convert to pageid?? I thought this should have worked: https://www.wikidata.org/w/api.php?action=query&prop=pageimages&format=json… <https://www.wikidata.org/w/api.php?action=query&prop=pageimages&format=json…> Q83495 Any suggestions? Documentation for action=edit incomplete

Hi, it seems that documentation about action=edit <https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/API:Edit> doesn't cover all possible results. I just found that when I tried to save a page which contains an URL to a blacklisted site (when trying to remove the nowiki tags around an URL in an article on frwiki <https://fr.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ruud_Jolie&oldid=106287645>). My program, WPCleaner, didn't warn me of a problem because the answer was not in a format described in the doc: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <api batchcomplete=""> <query> <pages> <page ns="1" title="Discussion:Ruud Jolie/À faire" missing="" contentmodel="wikitext" pagelanguage="fr"> <protection /> <restrictiontypes> <rt>create</rt> </restrictiontypes> </page> </pages> </query> </api> Is this normal ? Are there other formats for answers ? The documentation only covers answers in the format api/edit/result or the classic error reporting mechanism. query members of 2 categories

Hello, I have been using Mediawiki API on a few projects. I now need to query the API for pages, members of 2 categories. The pages have to be members of BOTH Category:Graduation_work and Category:2013 I've tried with: api.php?format=json&action=query&list=categorymembers&cmlimit=500&cmtitle=Category:Graduation_work&cmtitle=Category:2013 but I realized that what the request is doing is asking only for the members of last category, that is Category:2013. How could I request only the pages that are member of BOTH categories? I have been searching, but found no answer.
