Hi friends,
The Education team[1] at the Wikimedia Foundation is happy to share a
survey aiming to investigate academic faculty’s perceptions of Wikipedia in
Higher Education. You are kindly invited to participate in this survey if
you are working in the higher education related sector. We appreciate your
participation. And you are also very welcome to share this survey with your
networks.
The goal of this survey is (1) to retrieve a demographic observation about
the academic faculty’s perception of Wikipedia in Higher Education, (2) to
understand the factors that contribute to the perception of the academic
faculty towards Wikipedia, and (3) with the findings analyzed, develop
supportive programming.
Please click the link below to participate in this survey.

Hello!
A small organizing committee is planning a Wikimedia+Libraries Meetup before IFLA this summer. The meetup will take place in Dublin, Ireland, on the 23rd and 24th of July (Saturday and Sunday). Attendance or involvement with IFLA is not required--the Meetup is simply timed to coincide with IFLA for travel purposes. Although the Meetup is not sponsored or coordinated by IFLA, it does have IFLA’s support.
If you know a library staff member who might be interested in this Meetup (hopefully full and partial scholarships will be available) please have them take a moment, before March 27th, to fill out this “Community Survey”. Once the survey is completed, we will seek funding from the Wikimedia Foundation for the Meetup. Survey Link: https://forms.gle/BLnD4t9QKfBbkY9WA
Please let me, or any of the organizers, know if you have questions.
Thank you, the Wikimedia+Libraries Meetup organizers,
Laurie Bridges (Oregon State University, USA)
Nkem Osuigwe (Wikimedia and Libraries Usergroup<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_and_Libraries_User_Group>; African Library and Information Associations and Institutions)
Núria Ferran (University of Barcelona)
Rebecca O'Neill (Wikimedia Ireland).

Hello everyone!
As some of you may know, several developers are currently working on a
project (funded by a Wikimedia grant) to add Structured Data on Wikimedia
Commons functionalities to OpenRefine. See
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:OpenRefine for more info :-)
We are making good progress on this project. Many people in the Wikimedia
community actively use OpenRefine and are interested in these new features.
Because of this interest, the OpenRefine team starts hosting online,
monthly office hours for OpenRefine users from the Wikimedia community. You
can meet and ask questions to other OpenRefine / Wikimedia users here, and
talk to members of the development team. These office hours are informal,
have no set agenda, are held via Zoom but are not recorded. Registration is
not needed.
For now, we have scheduled office hours until the end of June 2022. Time of
the day alternates to accommodate participants from diverse time zones. If
these office hours prove to be popular, we will plan more of these later!
- Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at 9AM UTC
- Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at 4PM UTC
- Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 8AM UTC
- Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at 4PM UTC

where
we will post the Zoom links. Feel free to drop by :-)
Hope to see many of you there!
