Greetings again. Steve, I really appreciate your opinion. However, let's be
more realistic: Even in a questionnaire, the respondents feel more free to
air their opinion when they have the security that not even one person will
identify their specific responses. The fact that Wikimedia Kenya is
Democratic alone will not give people the confidence to speak pure truth. In
that case I am sorry to say that there are those who will give responses
that are "edited" in order to ensure that they do not condemn me or Abbas or
Oscar or Chris or Steve or Lilian or anybody else. Therefore the survey will
just be a painted picture.
@Chris,
However, these names
shouldn't be revealed to anyone after the survey or when the results
are being released
By "anyone" you mean even the one physically involved with the conduction
of
the survey right?
@Abbas,
I initially didn't put the name field, but I
thought it was important to
prevent one from participating twice.
You were on the right direction, and you gave it the best decision. In
future we have to look for a better solution against multiple participation.
You will agree with me that the name field doesn't solve the problem at all.
I can poise as Grace and submit my survey under her name....
The best solution I can think of right now is this: Each person is at
liberty to determine much of themselves they should give. As such, those who
feel their privacy is jeopardized by their IDs being known can opt to use
Anonymous in the name field. In this case I rely on the democratic maturity
and responsibility of all the members since this is a voluntary exercise and
does not benefit an individual in any way, such that no one should have any
malicious reason to participate twice.
Those are just my thoughts, and they are fully subject to criticism.
Have a nice day y'all
