I think we are nearing the point where videos either need to spin off as its own process or Featured Sounds needs to go the way of commons and become Featured Media. We have had an influx of nominations as FSes lately that are a tad shaky as Sounds or Pictures but work very well as a whole video [1][2][3] (One of these is my own nomination).
Do any of you have any desire to do anything of this sort?

At this stage, perhaps an inclusive strategy makes most sense.
Given the inertia factor to starting something wholly new (and the general multimedia energy of the existing FS community!), perhaps the time has indeed come for evolving toward a Featured Media process on Wikipedia.
I would certainly have a few videos to nominate right off :)
Thanks, Richard (User:Pharos)
That's a great idea. I hadn't noticed this thread when I suggested a featured video process today; you can see my reasoning here:

I'd be all for combining this into 'Featured Media'.

Good point, that is also needed; absolutely. The videos I want to promote are mainly or their educational value, which might be more appropriate in context on en:wp than in the more abstract commons (where beauty, resolution, composition, and other structural aspects of quality might be considered more important)

Hi wikivideo fans,
Amazingly enough, it looks like 'Featured Media' actually has consensus on Commons now:

Anyone up for the challenge of getting the new process jumpstarted? :)
Thanks, Richard (User:Pharos)
