Dear all,
What people in the e.wikiversity-community think about the Extension:Education? I noticed that it is in use in the de.wikiversity.org. You can create and run course with it (relatively) easy. It looks like this in the de.wikiversity.org:
https://de.wikiversity.org/wiki/Spezial:Einrichtungen
The extension is in here:
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Education_Program
I would love to see this in the en.wikiversity.org as you could easily build course like the one with did on the en.wikiversity long time ago. Still in here (a kind of archive):
https://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/Composing_free_and_open_online_educational_r...

Seems like a great idea Teemu. It could give people an option similar to, but probably much easier than, building a course w/ e.g. Moodle.
It might be good to start with a demo course on how to build courses :-)

I've been having a look at the English Wikipedia implementation. [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Institutions ]The extension works nicely though there's a lot of inactivity recorded.
I'm wondering how difficult it would be to transform current course ware on Wikiversity to best use the extension. Also, how will the School and Topic namespaces integrate? Perhaps the https://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/School:Education may be a good starting point? I don't know. I'm a custodian, but I've been 'away' for a while. This is an interesting idea, though.

Hi,
How could we go forward with this? Who should ask WMF to instal the extension?
I think the extension could give new start for the Wikiversity. We also could use the extension very differently from the current use of it in the Wikipedia. I would like it to be a peer-to-peer (without the institutions).

For an extension already deployed and customarily extended to other projects (which EducationProgram may still be), https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Requesting_wiki_configuration_changes For "new" extensions, things are tougher: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Review_queue

I think I read somewhere that the Education Program extension is deprecated (I might be wrong).
There is a session at Wikimania to work on the replacement:

Luis,
let us know, what ifnomation you got regarding that extension. Or if no information, we may ask some developers on their channel.
