Fodor, who holds degrees in psychology, political science, and economics, stresses that the competition is not only geared towards psychologists, but is open to all social science researchers and students. There are two categories:
- *academic and practicing professionals*, and - *undergraduate students*.
There is no specified topic for articles. However, to be considered, the “end product” should contain a detailed consideration of the *the featured model (FIPP - Fodormik's Integrated Paradigm for Psychology)*http://www.psy2.org/index.php?n=Psy2.Fippin connection with the article’s main topic. Some strategies that can lead to such an article include:
- investigation of the FIPP concept’s usability within your own research field - connecting FIPP, or parts of it, to major findings and current trends in psychology - creating a new research or test that argues pro or contra the relevance of FIPP. (Special scholarships are available in the case of particularly promising experiments) - reviewing the book - “Self-expansion: an integrated paradigm for psychology” - to include scientific evidence pro or contra the book as a whole or in part
*If you are working on publishing a paper, connect your topic to FIPP, submit it, and we will consider that as your competition entry.*
*Prizes*:
- Two Grand Prizes (one each category): $1,000 - Two Second Place Prizes (one each category): $350 - Two Third Place Prizes (one each category): $250 - Fourth, Fifth and Six Place Prizes (in categories with more than 50 contestants): $150 - Miklós Fodor's Special Prize: $500
The goal of this competition is not to write articles just for competition's sake: all contestants will receive an award of $150 when their article is published in science journals or major international broadsheet newspapers!
The first five competition submissions in each of the two categories (senior and undergraduate) will be awarded a printed copy of 'Self-Expansion'.
The final choice of winners in each category will be decided by a vote of the contestants themselves.
