Neat idea Shyamal. We are looking at a few ways to track when partner sources are added. The |via parameter, link search, and hashtags are all an option. We want to ideally limit the amount of extra thinking/remembering/doing editors have to do. I love your initiative here and think it's worth leaving as a suggestion for editors on the TWL talk page, or perhaps in our next newsletter. New subject: Using hashtags in edit comments #BNA, #JSTOR etc

I have been using hashtags. It is tricky to remember. Other editors are not remembering as much as I am. I am using #artandfeminism and #nueva I am remembering about 60% of the time. A hashtag dropdown in the edit window would be handy. Typing out #artandfeminism is a tongue twister. DO ALL CAPS work? There was no reply-to-all on the message from Jake. Cheers! Here in the Netherlands we are doing some experiments with hashtags as well. I agree that usage on live events might be better than for online activities, although that might partly result from the fact that people simply don't know that it exists. I have had some discussions with organizers of online activities about the usefulness of the tool - one thing that came out of it is that adding a hashtag might be useful for the respective Wikimedia chapter, but it's usually not useful for the editor him/herself. The one thing that's also very clear from our experiments is that the communication about the hashtag needs to be very good, not only during the campaign but especially in the preparation phase. This might go so far as that the hashtag is included in the banners that are put up - "Join the online writing week about Topic X - #Topic X". Wayne: thats our impression too, at the moment digital campaigns using hashtags seem to be somewhere between 60-80% usage (we only have a few examples at the moment), whereas in person events seem to be closer to 90--100% and are an excellent way to get new editors used to edit summaries. The first step towards better usage, I think, is the ability to add one as part of a campaign to your editing session.
