I’m jazzed about tonight’s call. Join if you like. The meeting link is berlow. We’ll talk about terrific recent successes and set ourselves up for more.
Let’s review (chat about) our recent WikiConference North America in Indianapolis. And hopefully hear about the recent WikiConvention Francophone in Quebec City. And other upcoming events.
And we have some small North American task forces or projects to consider how to start: * Supporting Native American topics and languages * Understanding and properly supporting visa applications for people coming from other counties to US or Canadian Wikimedia events * And a possible effort to translate the Wiki Workbook for Cultural Institutions
We aren’t trying to pressure anyone into participating or supporting these projects ; but so far we have consensus to go ahead gently.. I’d like to call them Hub projects (that is, small projects by the same community that does the WikiConference).
In the longer run: If a North American Hub is active and effective, at some point we can certify that it exists. Then we can get grant support for its projects. — Peter of Wikimedia DC
