For a spring activity, I propose we team up with OSM folks across the US and run a series of mapping parties. Better OSM = better maps in Wikipedia. :)
There's very much a need to build and strengthen mapping communities (and Wikipedia meetup groups) in the United States, especially outside of places like Boston, DC, and SF.
Simple tools like walking papers (pen & paper!) can be used, so the technical requirements can be low, -- http://walking-papers.org/ and there are bunch of us happy to provide guidance, if needed.
