Join us for a wiki edit-a-thon on Saturday afternoon (tomorrow) at the Met!
*Wikipedia Asian Month Edit-a-thon @ Metropolitan Museum of Art
*Saturday November 16, 2019, 12:30-4:30pm (drop-in any time)
*Bonnie Sacerdote Classroom, Ruth and Harold D. Uris Center for Education
(81st *Street entrance) at The Met Fifth Avenue in New York City.
Met page:
https://www.metmuseum.org/events/programs/met-celebrates/Asian-art-wikipedi…
Wiki page:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC/MetAsianMonth_2019
The Met will host a Wikipedia edit-a-thon to build global access to
information about Asian art. The Met's collection of Asian art is one of
the largest and most comprehensive in the world, and the Museum aims to
share it through Wikimedia platforms.
This November is the fifth annual Wikipedia Asian Month. At this
edit-a-thon, participants, joined by the Asia Art Archive in America and
others, will edit and contribute to Wikipedia articles, as well as cite and
source information about Asian art. Asia Art Archive will host a sister
event in Hong Kong next week.
The Met will provide a starter set of objects for participants to write
about, as well as highlights of oral histories and archival collections,
and links to our Japanese Illustrated Books Digital Collection. We will
also provide a brief introduction about The Met's collection of Asian art
and some of the treasures it holds.
We welcome seasoned Wikipedians as well as newbies to join in this fun and
focused event. Faculty, educators, students, and the public are also
invited to participate.
Sandwiches and ***Wiki-Cake*** will be served!
We welcome you, your friends, and colleagues.
Please bring your own laptop to this event if you can, it's much better for
Wikipedia editing than mobile.
Feel free to write if you have any questions about this event :)
Thanks,
Richard
