Hello NC Wiki friends!
I'm staring down a particularly busy November and would like to propose
that we hold off on meeting until early December. In lieu of a meeting,
there are a handful of things for user group members to do in the next
month -- both synchronously and asynchronously.
- First, don't forget that *Wikiconference North America
<https://wikiconference.org/wiki/2022/Main_Page> is coming up* the
weekend of Nov. 11-12. This is "the annual conference of Wikimedia
enthusiasts and volunteers from throughout North America, including Canada,
the United States, Mexico, and the Caribbean." This year's event is free
and online. I encourage you to attend if you're interested!
- Second, *we are late in creating our 2021 annual report!* Don't let
that keep you up at night; we're always late with our annual reports.
Nevertheless, staying current with reporting is an important part of our
remaining compliant -- and therefore existent -- as a user group. If you
participated in any Wiki-related activities in the reporting year May 1,
2021 to April 30, 2022, please *add them to our report
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/North_Carolina_Wikipedians/reports> by
Nov. 15*. (This is fairly easy, and just requires copying and pasting
the formatting from previous years. I've created the structure for the
report so it should be super simple.)
- Third, there's a ton of *photo clean-up still to be done from our
spring photo campaign*. Please chip in and help! Step-by-step
instructions are here
<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1SHz0G8jS2QqAZR4MLUF6JUndpKPsB8q_NLI-AXF…>;
reach out if you have questions!
- Finally, at our December meeting, we'll talk about goals and projects
for the 2023 calendar year. *Think about what we might work on together;*
it'll be fun to discuss! I'll schedule the meeting for our typical time --
a Thursday evening at 7:00. If you'd like to attend, *let me know if
certain Thursdays are better or worse for you.*
Thanks for all you do! I look forward to seeing you all again soon!
Emily
