Hey Wikipedian friends! We'll meet next Thursday, 1/26, at 7pm, at this
Zoom link: https://unc.zoom.us/j/99430814205
On the agenda: thinking ahead to the coming year, and anything else that's
on your minds. Hope to see you then!
Emily
Happy new year, NC Wikipedian friends! I hope the year is off to a great
start for all of you.
First, my deep, deep gratitude to Morgan for taking the lead on getting our
annual report together. You can see a draft here:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/North_Carolina_Wikipedians/reports#2021 If
you have any additions to make, this is your last call. I'm going to submit
it on Friday (1/6).
Thanks for your patience with our meeting hiatus while I go through a long,
exhausting move back into my house. As a reminder, we'll meet again on
Thursday, January 26, at 7pm. Zoom link forthcoming. In the meantime, feel
free to email with any news, updates, questions, or concerns.
I have one update about the Universal Code of Conduct
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Universal_Code_of_Conduct>. A vote is
coming up from 1/17 to 1/31 to ratify the proposed enforcement guidelines
for the Universal Code of Conduct. (The guidelines prescribe the actions
that are taken when community members violate the Universal Code of
Conduct.) All community members, and members of affiliates (that's you!)
are invited to vote.
Mervat Salman, WMF Movement Strategy and Governance Facilitator, sent a
message, looking for the user names of members of our group who may be
eligible to vote based on their membership in the North Carolina
Wikipedians. (Mervat's message is copied below, and you can find the list
of voting criteria for affiliate members here
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Universal_Code_of_Conduct/Revised_enforceme…>
.)
You may be eligible to vote based on your # of edits and community
standing. You can determine that using the account eligibility tool
<https://meta.toolforge.org/accounteligibility/63>.
If you are not eligible based on those factors (e.g. you don't have enough
edits), and are interested in voting, and are a member of the user group,
please send me your user name *by tomorrow* and I will pass it along to
Mervat. (Sorry for the late notice. Hopefully they'll grant us a little
leeway if we send those names a wee bit late!)
Let me know if you have any questions!
Cheers,
Emily

Hello Wikimedia Affiliates;
We want to update Wikimedia movement affiliates on the progress of the
Universal Code of Conduct, one of the recommendations of the Movement
Strategy process that many of you are familiar with.
Recently, the UCoC enforcement guidelines have been updated to reflect the
feedback that the community provided during the consultation period earlier
this year. Now, the final ratification is due. All community and affiliate
members are invited to vote from 17 January 2023 until 31 January 2023
23:59:59 (UTC) via SecurePoll .
Members of affiliates might be eligible to vote even if they do not meet
other criteria. Please review the voter eligibility criteria
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Universal_Code_of_Conduct/Revised_enforceme…>
and share this information with your membership. Your membership can also
verify their individual eligibility using the Account Eligibility Tool
<https://meta.toolforge.org/accounteligibility/63>. These criteria are the
same as those used for the recent Board of Trustees election.
Please reply to this email with the list of usernames who should be
eligible to vote by January 5, 2023. There is no need to include people who
are eligible under the other voter eligibility criteria.
We will update Affiliates in January with more information on the upcoming
vote,
Thank you for your time, and your cooperation is appreciated. Please don't
hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
On behalf of the Trust & Safety - UCoC Team
