Dear Wikimedia Affiliate Team,
My name is Joris Darlington Quarshie (user: Joris Darlington Quarshie), and
I am the Event Coordinator for the Wiki Loves Folklore 2025 (WLF)
International campaign.
We are excited to invite all Wikimedia Affiliates to participate in Wiki
Loves Folklore 2025, an annual international photographic competition aimed
at celebrating and documenting folk culture from around the world. The
campaign will take place on Wikimedia Commons from 1 February to 31 March
2025.
This campaign provides a unique opportunity to spotlight the folk
traditions, festivals, cultural practices, and events specific to your
region, enriching the world’s access to diverse cultural heritage.
Why Participate?
By organizing a local edition of Wiki Loves Folklore in your country or
region, your affiliate can:
-
Contribute valuable cultural content to Wikimedia Commons and other
Wikimedia projects.
-
Engage your community in creative and meaningful ways.
-
Strengthen partnerships with local cultural institutions.
How to Get Involved
To participate, your affiliate can allocate funds from your annual grant to
support local activities such as:
-
Organizing outreach and training sessions.
-
Providing prizes or incentives for local participants.
-
Engaging with photographers, cultural enthusiasts, and institutions.

Feminism and Folklore Writing Competition
In addition to the photographic competition, the Feminism and Folklore 2025
Wikipedia writing campaign focuses on topics related to feminism, gender
gaps, and folk culture. Your affiliate is welcome to organize this writing
competition in your local language as part of your activities.
