Wed meetup on Capitol Hill

I invite anyone who is available on Wednesday morning, to join me and DC Tech Meetup folks, on Capitol Hill to be there in solidarity and opposition to the proposed SOPA legislation. We will be there at 10 am at the Rayburn House Office Building. Update on Creating Change conference WMDC participation - now with volunteer travel stipends

Greetings, An update on Wikimedia's presence at Creating Change, the massive LGBT conference coming to Baltimore. Wikimedia Foundation has agreed to provide funding for a booth, meet-up and travel stipends for local volunteers. If you're interested in helping at the booth, you will be provided with $25 to cover your travel and related expenses. If you're in need of a larger amount for some reason, just email me to discuss. There are still opportunities to volunteer at the booth. More information below (copied from Katie's earlier email) and on their website: http://www.creatingchange.org The 24th National Conference on LGBT Equality: Creating Change, is coming to the Hilton Baltimore, January 25–29, 2012. This is an exciting opportunity to recruit new volunteers, outreach to potential sponsors for Wikimania and beyond, and for us to develop relationships with organizations that have a combined volunteer base of several million. We are in need of volunteers to be present at the booth for questions and general outreach on behalf of Wikimedia. The booth will be open: - Thursday, January 26 from 2:00pm to 10:00pm - Friday, January 27 from 8:30am to 7:30pm - Friday, January 28 from 8:30am to 7:30pm - Sunday, January 29 from 8:00am to 3:00pm If you can come for any part of the time, such as a morning or afternoon, that would be awesome! I am not yet sure when the meetup would be, but stay tuned. Chapter agreement signed

Hello everyone, I'm pleased to announce that Wikimedia DC has now signed a formal chapter agreement with the Wikimedia Foundation. The agreement sets out the various terms governing our chapter's relationship with the Foundation, and replaces the provisional recognition of Wikimedia DC by the Foundation's Board of Trustees with a more permanent arrangement.
