Aha! One of the pillars of the Cambridge Peace Commission, Brian
Corr, is an early Wikipedians, which seems fortuitous for your
project.
You might come to one of our upcoming meetups to recruit interest; or
post the idea to our mailing list: which I copy here. Brian, what do
you think of this idea?
Warm regards,
Sam.

Dear Sam,
I am a Cambridge, Massachusetts-based Wikipedian interested in international
sister cities. Recently I sent an introductory inquiry to the Cambridge
Peace Commission (which coordinates Cambridge's sister city relationships),
but have not yet received a reply. A copy of the email is below.
What would you recommend I do next? Thanks.

Subject: Cambridge sister cities in Wikipedia
Dear Cambridge Peace Commission:
I am a resident of Cambridge interested in participatory media and municipal
international relations. While not a computer whiz, I find Wikipedia an
excellent way to learn about Cambridge's sister cities. As you probably
know, Wikipedia is a very popular, online, free encyclopedia that anyone can
edit.
Would the Cambridge Peace Commission have any interest in exploring ideas
for a possible event related to Wikipedia and its (participatory) coverage
of Cambridge sister cities?
For instance, the English-language article for Santo Domingo Oeste contains
some interesting facts, but it could be expanded. What if Cambridge
residents were to spend an hour as volunteers adding information to the
article? It could build community among participants, and help create a more
robust encyclopedia article.
Information about "edit-a-thons" can be found here: <
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:How_to_run_an_edit-a-thon >. The
Cambridge Public Library hosted one in November 2012.
I look forward to your reply.
Sincerely,
Anne Britton
