Hello, I recently joined WMF to expand Wikipedia Zero and other mobile programs. We just did a quiet launch of Wikipedia Zero with Banglalink, and they are preparing to make an announcement. I would love to write a blog about Wikipedia users in Bangladesh.
I'm writing now to let you know about the launch, and also to see if someone in our community would share their story, maybe profile a group, discuss local trends, etc. I'm very open, just want to share the reader perspective on Wikipedia (and free access through Wikipedia Zero).
Please let me know if you can help
Thank you so much!
Carolynne
Hi Carolynne,
That's an awesome news. What type of stories do you want to hear? I've been involved with the bangla wiki project since 2006 and can discuss the overall development and growth of the bangla wikipedia. Let me know how I can help.
Regards,
Ragib

Dear Carolynne, Glad to know this information. Please be informed that, another biggest mobile phone operator Grameenphone also started providing free Wikipedia to their users. Its possible to browse zero.wikipedia.org from their network for free. I also hope, they will announce it shortly. Regards Safwan

That's really an awesome news, Carolynne. Thanks for sharing it.
As you said Banglalink is currently preparing to make an announcement. If they do a press briefing on it, saying their motivation to promote free knowledge through Wikipedia, maybe they can do so with the presence of few Wikipedians from Bangladesh? In that case they can also introduce some real people behind creating this encyclopedia and motivate other people to contribute. What doyou think? Do you think WMF can make am arrangement for this?
