Some of you may have heard that there has been some reform in the board of the Wikimedia India chapter, and that Wikipedians in India are being increasingly encouraged to organize local community groups.
If it made sense, if there was interest, and if there were 3 or so Wikipedians living in Kolkata who wanted to apply, a local "user group" for Bengali/Bangla speaking Wikipedians could be created. Some instructions for starting a group are here. https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Step-by-step_user_group_creation_guide The major advantage of having a user group is making a place were anyone can organize to create events and request small grants and funding.
If this happened, then this project could be part of that group, and also link to instructions in Bangla for how anyone in Bengal can apply for funding to host projects in India. Having a group may make it easier to partner with Wikimedia Bangladesh.
I hardly understand the community organization system in either India or Bangladesh because I live in the United States and have only visited the region, but I find Bengali culture attractive and would like to see this part of the world get as much international support to do outreach and projects as it can manage.
