October, 2020 at 5pm.
Wikidata is Eight (8) years old and to celebrate the movement, we have been
invited to organise a distributed event. The Wikidata distributed events
are decentralized events organised by local groups, organizations or
community members around the world to join in the celebration!
We now have slots for about 10 members now who may want to come to our
office, on their own volition and help us cut the cake to mark the event.

We are happy to announce our debut Mini-Grant Program dubbed KIWIX4Schools!!
The KIWIX4Schools mini-grant is a program to support members of the OFWA
community who have an interest in deploying KIWIX in Senior High Schools.
KIWIX is an offline version of Wikipedia that allows students and teachers
to do their academic research and studies without requiring access to the
internet.
There are a limited number of slots available and applications are open
from *1st November 2020 to 31st January 2021 *towards implementation
between 1st Jan to 10th December 2021.
Please be informed that, application for each intended school should not
exceed the capped amount of *GHC400.* Interested persons should kindly

As such Open Foundation West Africa is hosting the #OFWAWIKIDATAEVENT

most events are expected to happen online and hence our event will be
virtual but we also don’t want to miss the opportunity to share the
birthday celebration with the rest of the community. Hence we are making
room for some members of the community to participate in the event at the

Dear Members of OFWA,
I hope this email finds you and your families in good health. Following occurrences of the pandemic a lot of our activities have been limited to online engagements and because we know how important it is to have physical interactions we have started looking into initiatives that can allow some in-person engagements following all guidelines laid down by the government and the WHO.
I write to inform all members of our community that the board is opening 2 seats for occupancy. These seats as per our bylaws are to be occupied by candidates from our community who meet the necessary requirements. Quick facts about the role:
The position will last for a duration of 1 year.
Board seats can be occupied by active members of our community.
Elections will take place at our Annual General Meeting later this year whether in person or virtual (actual date will be communicated, but usually in December).
