The glamtools list we created a couple of years ago, after launching the GLAM wiki toolset, has recently had very few users asking questions about tools.
On behalf of the list mods, I invite feedback on whether the list should be re-promoted as a useful but more general discussion about Wikimedia Commons batch upload tools, techniques and issues. For example it could be the recommended email list for all tools listed at Commons:Upload tools[1] and for GLAM related tools such as those listed on Outreach[2]. Alternatively, if the feeling is we have enough lists and notice boards that do this job, this may be the right time to close the list down and refer users elsewhere.
Though it costs nothing to run the email list, and past discussions have been useful, there is a small volunteer cost in admin time to keep an eye on the moderation queue.
If you prefer to discuss on-wiki, see the Commons VP thread.[3]

Hi,
As there has only been one response, on the Commons VP, suggesting that Commons-l is sufficient to discuss tools and reports in a more general way, I'll look further at closing down the list.
I'd like to keep the archive open as a referenceable record in the future, such as linking from Phabricator. I'll check how the archive works before acting. Any links to this list can be adapted to suggest Commons-l as appropriate, I have already amended the main GWT page on Commons.
This has been a successful list, and many usability and some complex technical issues that were resolved here. For all those that took part in various ways, thank you for your interest and support! See you on-wiki. :-)
Cheers, Fae
If it's not too personal maybe you could open it up for uploaders of all sorts, because we will be hosting data on Commons soon, according to the reports

This GLAMlist has been vital to my projects on Commons, thanks to the kind help of you experts. I hope that though the name of the list may change, a practical facility like this remains available at any rate.
Recently, a then still buggy Pattypan made inroads in the Netherlands - the list might also support Pattypan?
Thanks a lot, regards, hans muller

Based on feedback the plan is to close the list, keeping the list archive available for reference. The comment on the Commons Village Pump was useful, highlighting that Commons-l is a good place for Commons upload tool discussion, especially if the topic is indicated, i.e. put "[Tools]" or similar as a prefix in the subject line. Despite having 149 members, the GLAMtools list has been almost completely inactive this year, and though Commons-l is a relatively quiet list, it will have a higher volume of readers and experienced Commonsers who can help or suggest where to find help.
There is no special hurry, so closing the list may take a couple of weeks to get to. If Commons-l or other places find a high volume of tool related discussion and questions later on, we can revisit whether creating or reopening the tools list is worth the small maintenance effort.
Thanks, Fae
