I agree. Not just, "dismiss this one", but "Don't show this type of notification again" right on the notification itself (not necessarily those phrasings).
But this discussion is touching upon the central challenge for this product: how to make sure that we inform people without spamming them.
Right, this is critical, and the balance is different for each person (hence sane defaults with configurability).
