I've asked these questions in other ways and places and I'd like to hear what other people on the Research and EE lists think.
There are many video game players of diverse ages, genders, languages, and locations. How could Wikimedia editing be made into an appealing activity for people who are currently video gamers? How could Wikimedia market itself to gamers, including console, LAN, FPS, MMORPG, and mobile gamers?

Hey everyone,
I just wanted to make sure the editor engagement list saw this blog post:
http://blog.wikimedia.org/2013/07/02/english-wikipedia-editor-pilot-philipp…
Siko, Haitham, and others in grantmaking/programs wrote a really nice
postmortem on this pilot project, where they used geotargeted banners to
invite Filipino readers to sign up and join WikiProject Phillippines. Even
though it wasn't a wild success, the findings are valuable.

These feel *really* good to get :-) So I've been handing them out like
candy. Also useful for when you feel like you're in a battle with
someone, and their last edit is just right and you want to say "yep,
got it". Whoever thought of this, well done.
Suggestion: enable thanking anonymous editors. Not sure what would be
the best way to make it visible to them, but I imagine it would be
quite the buzz for them to make that first tentative edit and have
someone *thank* them for it.
