Hi all,
I've managed to get an interview with Gabriel Nderitu next Saturday ie on
the 25th. This is the guy who built an aircraft by reading a couple of
Internet resources including Wikipedia.
There are a couple of other interviews to do so I'll setup a page
specifically for scheduling them later on today.
cheers,
Alex
Hi all,
It is with deep regret that I tell you I am leaving Wikimedia Kenya. After more than two years being proactively involved with Wikimedia Kenya's governance, I have decided to leave -- for personal reasons.
I therefore need some volunteers to take over 1) moderating the Wikimedia Kenya mailing list, 2) being the Wikimedia Chapters Association liaison, and 3) facilitating the chapter registration process. I will also forward Wikimedia Kenya's projector, that I have, to the Board soon. To allow for an orderly transition, I will stay on through August.
I hope to continue contributing to Wikimedia projects and Cultural Heritage projects (such as the Kenya News Agency project) in an unaffiliated capacity.
I wish Wikimedia Kenya the best, in its future endeavors.
SincerelyAbbas Mahmood

Arabic<https://translatewiki.net/wiki/Portal:Ar#open_layer_1>,
also contains a map with translators for that language. The same goes for
pages with supported products, like that for

Hi all,
I just wanted to let you know that I am part of a working group involved in the digitization of the Kenya News Agency archives. The KNA was established in 1943, and is a photographic library that was used in the past decades by journalists to document various pre-colonial events such as the MauMau struggle. They have lots of content that are a national treasure, yet most of their photos are stored in metallic cabinets at Jogoo House, due to budgetary constraints.
The KNA would therefore like to digitize its content so as to increase access and has started up a small working group to figure out the best way(s) to go about this.
I'll update you guys with more info about the digitization after we have our first meeting.
Regards,Abbas.
Hi all,
We were developing the content curriculum for the Kenyan curriculum so that we could have a custom-made offline Wikipedia version for us here: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Offline_Projects/Content_Development/Schools…. Is there anyone who is still working on this? As of now we have articles on Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Mathematics, IRE, Agriculture, History & Geography. We don't have articles on Business Studies & CRE. Articles re Physics, Math, and Geography are too few and still need to be increased. Is there anyone here who has access to the Kenyan curriculum willing to fill in the blanks?
Thanks to Steve & Dennis on adding some articles.

Hello!
(Pardon me as am not very sure whether it is good to talk about people on a
public list.)
I hope this finds you all well. Preparations to meet guys Victor would have
interviewed if his visit would have materialised had already started. And
now since his plans to visit Kenya did not go as earlier planned we have to
do some story teller interviews using his awesome Camera.
Alex had already contacted the guy who had made a plane at his home since
he had cited Wikipedia as a great resource of knowledge on citizen TV.
In my patrols around Wikipedia, I came across Victors message on a user
talk page of a very young contributor who is a resident in Kenya. He is a
minor with >3000 edits on en and he is a great contributor to Kinyarwanda
Wikipedia! Am in contact with him and he is also willing to be part of this
story.
There is another Nation Media Journalist who interviewed me earlier this
year about Wikipedia and am in talks with him as well.
More ideas from the community are definitely welcomed about people who will
be part of the story.
Regards,
Stephen
