Hi,
If we are talking about billing, I would say that cheapest way is to rent a server for one or 2 years. So would it be a problem for WMDE to offer us support for one year? Also to send a reports every 3 month means the reports will be very simillar.

Hi,
I list here some questions that I have heard in the chat:
- Is it OK for the WMDE if the person who rent the server is in another
country (e.g. USA) 2. Would the WMDE prepay for three months in the future (many provider sends bill for three next months)

Hi,
if we rent a virtual server with full root access, we can install many things, Moodle, too. At moment we only need someone who rent the server with the money of the WMDE and we must create a report with our ides for the first three months (install a webserver, MediaWiki, Moddle, etc.).

Hi Jan and Leigh,
I think a Sandbox server with Moodle would be great, especially if it is provided so that one can start to build there real online courses.
I assume in the Finnish Wikiversity there is a lot of interest to "play" with Moodle the Wikiversity way.
Important with it would be to keep it as open as possible (the wiki way), so that all the course content and course related activities of the participants in the Moodle would be publicly available.
Do you think the Moodle in the Sandbox server could be provided this way, too?

James, do you think we can get university of Canberra in on this? I'm meeting with new ICT boss this afternoon.

Hi,
Topic: Sandbox Server (http://beta.wikiversity.org/wiki/Sandbox_Server )
I have "speak" with Daniel of the German Wikimedia and he has said that the WMDE would sponsor us a server. The details and condition:
• We (respectively one of us) rent the server and we (the person) send the bill to the WMDE and then they repays the costs • The WMDE gives for first time max. 50 €/month • The server hosts only projects, software, etc. which are for the Wikimedia community • We must send every three month a report which include: o Current projects o How the community accepts the projects o Our ideas for the next three months (which extensions, software, etc. should be develop, which software should test, etc.)
If all is OK, we need one who rents the server and we must create a first report of our ideas for the next three months.
Daniel of the WMDE is in the mailing list, too. We can ask him if there are some questions.
Viele Grüße Jan Luca
