Since last week in elwiki "Cite" button (cite-ve-toolbar-group-label) and the "Add a citation" title are displayed in English. They are properly translated in translatewiki and the translation is present on wiki: https://el.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Cite-ve-toolbar-group-label and it was displayed correctly in VE. I can't find what happened. Can someone think something before I report a bug in phab?
Hi Konstantinos,
I have has the same issue last week. The message you want to translate/change is "Citoid-citoidtool-title" and "Citoid-citoiddialog-title". I created it last week locally [1] and my wife changed the translation on translatewiki.net [2][3]
It took me some time to find out the correct messages because the interface says it is "Cite-ve-toolbar-group-label" [4]. I am still not sure if it is a bug or if I do not understand something correctly :-(
Regards
Raimond.

Many thanks Raimond. I also tried to find the message and it seems that uselang=qqx reports the older message. I don't like the fact that we need to translate again something that was already translated in hundrends of languages.
Hello Geraki and Raimond
First, sorry for the disturbance. I'm not involved in the project, but I think I know the reasons why those messages have been changed.
Those labels have been created for VE, when VE was the only service using them. Now that Citoid is a service available both for VE, the new wikitext editor, and possibly more services, the label has been changed to have more sense for people who will work, improve and use the extension.
Those changes are made in advance. For instance, Citoid-citoiddialog-title has been imported to translate wiki on April 23, 2019. I would suggest you to bookmark the recent imports link on Translatewiki https://translatewiki.net/w/i.php?hidehumans=1&translations=only&namespace=8&limit=50&days=7&enhanced=1&changeType__hidenewpages_color=c2&title=Special:RecentChanges&trailer=%2Fen&urlversion=2&users=, and check it time to time to catch up on new messages for MediaWiki.
Also,* don't forget to delete the local messages you have created* when the centralized messages will be imported on the wikis. Otherwise, you will have a non-matching translation if the centralized message is changed.
Hope this helps, Benoît

The usual way to follow new messages to translate is from within Translate itself, with the "new additions" group: https://translatewiki.net/wiki/Special:Translate/!additions
This does not seem to be a problem of slow translation, though. If Raymond's link is correct, the translation was made 5 days ago. It's an unacceptable regression to have to wait so many days before a translation is deployed. We need to restore the usual functionality we've had for something like a decade, or this little unnecessary shocks to translators will continue.

I understand the reason for the change, but I also believe it is reasonable for anybody to assume that the translations would be identical and it should be easy for the developers to *copy *the translations to the new extension (maybe even before importing to translatewiki).
