Hey Isaac,
Between a C.A.T and several meetups at campus tommorow, I'm not sure if I'm going to get enough time to send you the zim file.
So if anyone could assist, Isaac is at Eagerton and needs the file for a demo this Friday.

Hey Lilian,
I'd be happy to assist. One thing to consider though, the copy I have is on a netbook meaning no CD drive so the options available are we use a 4 GB flash disk or a network cable to move the files.
Let me know which works for you.
Alex.

The zim (2.5 GB) file is platform independent as in the same file that works on 32 bit also works on 64 bit.
Kiwix the application on the other hand is which varies as per platform, however, it's only around 10 MB so I think you can download this and have the zim file sent over.

Hello, everyone.
I'd like to congratulate you on your mature and efficient selection process.
(It took us a lot longer in Wikimedia Israel, for instance...)
To those who wanted to go but are not going this time, remember there will
be other opportunities to meet and exchange views and experiences with your
international peers, in this year and in coming years: Delphine already
mentioned Wikimania at Haifa (early August), which is a _great_ opportunity
to meet lots of Wikimedians from around the world, without the 2-per-chapter
limit. There are also some smaller, more specific events planned, such as a
developer conference.
Regarding preparation for the chapters conference:
1. Be sure to prepare a *very brief* status report. No more than *three
minutes*, summing up your status -- the event at Strathmore, and the school
outreach project should be your focus, and just make a very quick mention of
the bylaws situation at the end. This report would be delivered before all
the participants, and is *key* to get your international peers interested in
the work you've been doing. Following this talk, some of these peers would
no doubt want to discuss your work with you, offer help, make suggestions,
etc.
2. Beside the brief status report, try to come up with a couple of "big
questions" you are thinking about, especially things you would like to learn
from the more experienced, established chapters. Use these prepared
questions to initiate conversation with the other participants, and take
notes. (If you can arrange to come with at least one mobile computer, it
would help you take notes and follow up links to sites mentioned during the
conference -- there's wi-fi throughout. If you won't have a laptop with
you, let me know and I'll try to arrange one for you.)
Most importantly: *don't be shy*! Make the most of that weekend by engaging
with as many different people around you. There are a couple of natural
tendencies to overcome here: one is the tendency to stick with people you
already know -- this applies both to each delegation's representatives
sticking to each other, and to experienced Wikimedians sticking to people
they have already met in previous conferences or Wikimanias. The other is
to keep talking to one or two persons you've had a good conversation with,
staying in the "comfort zone", rather than looking for new contacts. So
don't be shy! :)
Keep up the great teamwork, everyone! I am inspired by your progress.

Congrats to Abbas and Oscar, judging from all the work they've done to make our activities a success, I'm sure we are going to have an awesome representation at the Chapters meeting.
And ofcourse not forgetting Sam for coordinating the voting as well as all who voted for selecting a great pair.
Cheers,
Alex.

Hello everybody
As you all know, the Wikimedia Chapters Meeting will be held between 25th
and 27th March as part of the Wikimedia Conference.
Wikimedia Kenya was asked to send two representatives to the meeting. We
designed a poll for the interested and selected 13 founding members to vote
for them (The polls needed people who have been active in Wikimedia Kenya
for long enough to know all the activities of the Chapter).
The potential representatives that we were looking for must meet the
following requirements:
1. Someone who has thorough *acquaintance with the activities of
Wikimedia Kenya*, ranging from the formation to the current progress and
projects...to the future plans of the chapter. We don't want someone who'll
embarrass us there. We should also consider someone who's good at *public
speaking*, b'coz the selected representatives will present a powerpoint
of what we've done before other chapters and WMF staff.
2. Considering that the period between now and 27th March is very short,
I would prefer someone who already has a *travel passport* or one who is
sure to acquire it by then.
3. Though not very necessary, we should consider gender sensitivity (1
female and 1 male)
4. What has the nominee done for Wikimedia Kenya?
5. Consider the availability of the chosen persons. Let's not choose
someone who will later start giving apologies that they are committed
somewhere and can't make it to the conference.
6. How will Wikimedia Kenya benefit by selecting <name of nominee> to
represent us at the chapters meeting.
Five persons showed interest to represent Wikimedia Kenya in the meeting,
namely;
1. Abbas Mahmoud
2. Alex Wafula
3. David Mugo
4. Grace Kariuki
5. Oscar Limoke
With 10 out of 13 voters, the polls are concluded and closed. I hereby
release the results officially
Please find attached the PDF to show the detailed results of the polls. The
polls can also accessed In the following link:
THE OFFICIAL POLL
RESULTS<http://www.doodle.com/participation.html?pollId=bk9hx4p8y224bgw4&adminKey=c…>
.
It is therefore my pleasure to announce that the two representatives of
Wikimedia Kenya in the 2011 Chapters' meeting are
1. Abbas Mahmoud
2. Oscar Limoke
Thank you all for your co-operation.
