Hey David,
With regards to Openzim and Kiwix, my take is that the Openzim project is mostly involved in the development of zim files while Kiwix is a reader of zim files.
Best of luck in the Mombasa pre-visit, do take a look (on wikimedia.or.ke) at Oscar's report on his visit to Kakamega as well as Egerton's on the school's they've visited so far for some pointers on yours.
Cheers,
Alex.

Just spoke to Isaac from Egerton and he is available for the Mombasa pilot.
So guess, we can include him in this team.

March is the exams month at Strathmore University so it will be difficult for us to come for that pilot. That being said, Dennis, Branton, David are still available. I'm not sure whether Sam could join you. Do we have any other members that would be available to join the Mombasa pilot? I'm really sorry that we at Strathmore wouldn't be able to make it. BTW, do you guys think we should also engage AISEC in our activities? I think we share the same goals...--Abbas.

Hey Asaf,
Thanks for the awesome advice.
With the feedback we've already received from the Egerton team as well as Oscar's pre-visit in Kakamega, it's evident that our feedback to the Openzim project and Kiwix will be of great help to their development.
I'll definately post any supporting docs we come up with on the projects site.
I've been researching on zim files and scripts used to generate them for the better part of the evening and I think it would be great if we were to take this up in the future, just my thoughts.
Ps: our schools project is featured on the Openzim's project home page.
Cheers,
Alex.
