Join our Wikipedia Takes Manhattan scavenger hunt and photo contest,
aimed at illustrating Wikipedia articles covering the wondrous sights
of the isle of Manhattan (and everywhere else too!).
PLACE & TIME -
Bowling Green Park
Saturday, September 15, 3PM (walking tours *depart* at this time)
Shortly after 3PM, we'll depart from our starting point at Bowling
Green and lead walking tours around many of the National Register of
Historic Places sites downtown, on itineraries stretching in eccentric
lines from our starting point toward the Washington Square Park and
NYU area.
The event is being held in conjunction with NYC's celebration of
Software Freedom Day, and all participants are welcome to join us
afterwards for the Free Software / Free Culture party at NYU's ITP at
7pm (evening party is at Tisch School at 721 Broadway).
No special wiki knowledge is required at all, just a camera and a love
of the city!

Wikimedia NYC Chapter
The Wikimedia NYC Annual Meeting will be held on Saturday June 30,
2012 at Jefferson Market Library (425 Sixth Ave / Avenue of the
Americas) in Lower Manhattan.
Business will include the election of a nine-member chapter board of
directors for the nonprofit Wikimedia NYC Chapter.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC
We'll start the official meeting at the library from 1 pm to 4:30pm,
and afterward we'll walk to dinner at 5 pm, probably at the nearby
Sammy's Noodle.
You can officially 'sign up' at that page, declare yourself a
candidate for the board, and add your ideas and discussion topics to
the agenda!

Women, people in education, and Jerseyites are all invited!
And afterwards, we'll gather for a wiki-dinner at nearby Nassau Sushi.
(A few of us will probably be taking a train together from NYC, please
write me personally if you'd like to join the group at Penn Station).
