Dear NC Wiki friends,
First, this is your reminder that we'll meet this Thursday at 7pm at this
Zoom link:
https://unc.zoom.us/j/91409562683
Before then, in the next few days, I'm supposed to cast a vote on behalf of
our user group for the Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees, which is
bringing on two new members.
You can read about the *2022 Board of Trustees candidates
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Wikimedia_Foundation_elections/2022/Candidates>
*here. The candidates have also responded to a set of questions here
<https://forum.movement-strategy.org/t/affiliate-questions-selected-for-the-wikimedia-foundation-board-of-trustees-election-2022/949>.
Please send me any input, endorsements, or concerns about any of the
candidates *by Wednesday (6/14) at 7pm*. (On- or off-list, whichever your
preference) My deadline for casting a vote is Thursday, 6/15, at 8pm. (So I
will be voting before our Thursday meeting.) The election uses a
ranked-choice system called single transferable vote
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Foundation_elections/Single_Transferable_Vote>.
Affiliate representatives (that's me, voting on behalf of our user group)
will vote to select 6 of the 12 candidates to continue on to the Board of
Trustees Community Voting period, during which we'll each have an
opportunity to vote as individuals. The community voting period will take
place from Aug. 15 to 19.

Thanks,
Emily
