... and one last message about this meeting:
We're being asked as an affiliate to weigh in on a question related to the Universal Code of Conduct: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Universal_Code_of_Conduct/Enforcement_draft_...
Specifically, we're being asked whether we think there should be a formal ratification process for those draft guidelines. We'll discuss this tonight.
If you have opinions on this and have a chance to consider before this evening, great. If you don't have opinions, no need to take any action. If you have opinions but *don't* have a chance to review before this evening, that's also fine. We'll have a chance to communicate about this asynchronously before our answer is expected next week.
See you later!

Hello fellow NC Wikipedians! I hope you're all well.
If anyone was unable to attend the meeting, here's a link to some very high-level notes: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/North_Carolina_Wikipedians/Monthly-Meeting#D... If you attended and have notes to add, please feel free!
As I mentioned via email, our user group is being asked whether we think there should be a formal ratification process for the Universal Code of Conduct enforcement guidelines. [ https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Universal_Code_of_Conduct/Enforcement_draft_... ]
*Background: * The Universal Code of Conduct "aims to provide a universal baseline of acceptable behavior for the entire Wikimedia movement and all its projects." [link to learn more https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Universal_Code_of_Conduct/Project] The UCoC has implications for safety and inclusion in the Wikimedia movement -- including in our user group.
As per the Wikimedia 2030 Movement Strategy process, "We will establish Movement-wide standards for an inclusive, welcoming, safe, and harassment-free environment. This will enable us to better attract and retain new and diverse volunteers and grow as a movement."
The guidelines for enforcing that code of conduct have been drafted. The question we're facing now is: should those guidelines just be adopted? Or should there be a formal ratification process?
*What we're being asked:* The survey questions I need to respond to are:
- In general, how acceptable do you find the Enforcement Draft Guidelines for the UCoC? [See the link above] - If you have concerns about the Draft and recommended processes, what are they? - Do you feel the final Enforcement Guidelines should be put through a formal ratification process?
*What do you think?* Please let me know your thoughts so I can respond with an accurate reflection of what our user group thinks. You can respond on or off list. The deadline for this is this Wednesday, so please send your thoughts *by end-of-day Tuesday, 12/7*.
*We'll meet again at 7pm on January 6*.
Cheers, Emily

Hello! Last call for feedback on this question about the Universal Code of Conduct enforcement guidelines.
I haven't heard from anyone yet, which is totally fine. I know there have been a *lot* of process questions lately, and I also know that folks are really busy. I'm just sending this nudge in case anyone was planning to respond but hadn't yet gotten around to it. If that's you, let me know tonight!
Again: we're being asked whether our group believes there should be a formal ratification process for the draft enforcement guidelines. Since the survey is a yes/no, and doesn't leave room for an agnostic response, I'm inclined to respond via email rather than via the survey, reporting that our group does not have strong feelings on this question one way or the other.
Hope you're all well!
