Hi guys, I hope everyone have a good rest after planning so much of the Wikipedia 10's meetup. This is somewhat different from all the different emails that you might be getting constantly from the replies to the Wikipedia 10's planning in Singapore. But I believe we should not just focus on one subject(planning on Wikipedia 10) and forgetting about other things. Lets discuss: What chance would we get to host a Wikimania in Singapore? Seriously, I somewhat disagree with the fact that we are able to hold high hopes in getting the chance of being able to host Wikimania. I have interacted with people from other countries, with the weather similar to the US. With people saying: "15 degrees is perfect" and "Singapore is way tooo hot for me". We might have the world's best resources in making the Wikimania a memorable one, but our weather is the only module that is affecting us! We don't have to discuss about this now, but this issue will sooner or later arise. How are we able to create a Wikimedia Chapter with such a small community? Correct me if I am wrong, but we currently have less than 20 Wikimedians(let alone Wikipedians) in the mailing list. Maybe the others are too lazy to join, but our goal of this mailing list is to be able to get Singaporean Wikimedians to come together and plan a Wikimedia Chapter in Singapore. Try getting your friends(or your enemies. :)) to join this mailing list. Other than this mailing list, we should also set up an IRC channel to communicate better. Maybe Terrance, you can create one? Besides, shouldn't we create a website so that we can be more informed with what is happening to Wikimedia in Singapore? I hope these questions can kick start our plannings of Wikimedia Singapore. Hi,
We currently don't have the manpower and community spirit here as this is secondary.
No use for irc. Tried, tested, failed.

Hmm, maybe we reserve these for the future? P.S. Is that any formatting error with my email?

Hi Hydriz,
I really appreciate your interest in moving forward with the formation of the chapter. I think Singapore is a critical part of a region where the Wikimedia Foundation would want to actively pursue the interests of the movement. Our projects are well-known around the world and I think you will receive adequate support from local organizations to take this proposal forward.
But prior to that, we must be optimistic and build some momentum amidst the Singaporean community, generate interest and generally get people involved. We don't have to be a chapter to do that. We need more ideas and we need people like you in the movement who can take the initiative to pull this through. Regular Wikipedian meetups, for one, could be a good idea.
Gaurav, can you please get some of the people at hackerspace to join this list. I believe they might be interested in continuing to support us.
Yours sincerely,
Anirudh Bhati

Okay, Even if we take years to start a Wikimedia Chapter in Singapore, but I myself is glad that everyone has responded well to this issue. Lets just work harder to teach other people about Wikipedia. Cheers!
