Wiki Loves Folklore photo contest in Commons, in conjunction with the Feminism & Folklore contest in Wikipedia, is a vibrant initiative that brings together photographers, contributors, and enthusiasts from around the world to capture and celebrate the rich tapestry of folklore and cultural heritage. Your dedication and efforts have been instrumental in making past editions a success, and we are thrilled to have you on board once again.
Campaign Details:
- Duration: February 1st to March 31st, 2024 - Objective: Showcase the diversity of folklore through compelling photographs on Wikimedia Commons and contribute to Wikipedia's coverage of folklore, with a special emphasis on cultural diversity and gender inclusivity on Wikipedia.
Your Role:
*Create Campaign Pages: *Kickstart the campaign by creating Wiki Loves Folklore 2024 dedicated pages on Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia and add them to the Organize subpage https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Wiki_Loves_Folklore_2024/Organize and the Project subpage https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Feminism_and_Folklore_2024/Project_Page on Meta. These pages will serve as a hub for information, guidelines, a list of proposed items, tools, instructions, or other communications to the community.
*Engage Users/Photographers:* Foster a sense of community by actively engaging with local photographers and Wikimedia contributors. Encourage them to participate, share their experiences, and seek assistance if needed.
*Promote the Campaign:* Utilize your social media channels, local networks, and community forums to spread the word about Wiki Loves Folklore 2024. The more participants, the richer the collection of folklore imagery we can gather.
