Hello,
I'm pleased to announce that Wikimedia DC will be holding an election of our Board of
Directors over the course of the next five weeks. The Board is responsible for managing
the business affairs of the organization in accordance with the Bylaws. If you are
interested in regional Wikimedia outreach, I encourage you to run for the Board.
Members are elected to the Board each year in a staggered pattern. This year, we will be
electing four directors for two-year terms.
Full details regarding the election, including instructions for candidates and voters, are
available on our website at
http://wikimediadc.org/wiki/Internal:Board_election_(October_2013). A summary of some key
points:
(1) Candidates and voters must be members of Wikimedia DC to participate in the election.
If you haven't renewed your membership from last year, you will need to do so by
September 30. For more information on paying member dues, see
http://wikimediadc.org/wiki/Membership.
(2) Candidates must submit their nomination package, including certifications of
eligibility, mandatory disclosures, and candidate statements, to the Election Committee by
September 30.
(3) Ballots will be distributed on October 1. Voters who wish to request electronic
ballots must do so by September 30; the same deadline applies to voters who will be
receiving paper ballots and wish to update their mailing address.
(4) All completed ballots -- whether paper or electronic -- must be received by
close-of-business October 22 in order to be counted.
Please send any questions regarding the election to the Election Committee at
election(a)wikimediadc.org.
On behalf of the Election Committee,
James Hare
